How Does Sirius 2 Satellite Radio Work?
The Satellites
Sirius 2 Satellite Radio is a pay digital radio service promising more content and fewer-to-no advertisements. The service operates by having content beamed from the Sirius headquarters in New York City to a series of three satellites orbiting the Earth. These satellites each spend around 15 hours per day above the continental United States, with at least one being there at all times. Users then access the content from the satellites via their various home, car, and computer Sirius receivers.
Content
In exchange for a monthly payment (which varies depending on the service plan selected), users are granted unlimited access to more than 200 channels of content, many of them exclusive. In addition to genre music channels that play just songs and no commercials, Sirius 2 offers channels dedicated to artists like Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, talk radio like the Howard Stern Show and the Opie and Anthony Show, and various comedy channels that play nothing but stand-up comedy.
Stiletto 2
The Stiletto 2 is the most current model of the portable Sirius radio receiver on the market. It is smaller in size than its predecessor, the Stiletto 100. It features a microSD slot designed for playing content from your home computer on the device itself (though the slot is not designed for saving Sirius content). The Stiletto 2 also supports Wi-Fi access, perfect for engaging Internet-exclusive Sirius content while on the go.
