Play An Ipod Shuffle In A Car

Much like tapes, CDs have become a piece of history in car audio. Nearly all new vehicles come with a standard auxiliary (AUX) input that an iPod Shuffle can easily be connected to for playback through the car's sound system. For those with an older vehicle lacking an AUX input, a radio tuner can be used. There are numerous advantages to using an iPod Shuffle over CDs, such as the ability to easily switch between albums and the capacity to carry thousands of songs.

Instructions

Using an AUX Input

1. Locate the AUX input in your vehicle. It will usually be a small hole the same size as a headphone input located on the radio or CD player.

2. Plug one side of a two-sided AUX cable into the car, and the other end into the iPod Shuffle's headphone jack.

3. Turn on the car's radio, and change the mode to "AUX" or "Auxiliary."

4. Turn on the iPod Shuffle and play a song.

5. Switch songs using the iPod Shuffle's controls. Volume can be adjusted using the radio interface, but functions such as scanning and skipping tracks will not work.

Using a Radio Tuner

6. Scan through the radio in the car and find a station with static or complete silence.

7. Plug the radio tuner into the headphone jack of the iPod Shuffle.

8. Adjust the tuner to the radio station that was previously silent or static. Each tuner is different, but most show the current station on a small screen with up and down buttons to make adjustments.

9. Play a song on the iPod Shuffle after the car's radio station and the tuner's station are aligned.

10. Change songs using the iPod Shuffle rather than the radio controls.

11. Adjust the channel on both the radio and the tuner if the sound quality diminishes. Radio stations fade in and out as you travel, and some may interfere with the small signal created by the tuner.
