Receive Tv Signals With An Antenna

You don't need cable, satellite or fiber optic television service in your home to receive channels on your TV. Many stations local to your area still broadcast free, over-the-air programming on a continuous basis. All you need to receive these free broadcasts is a television set and an antenna. The antenna must be configured properly with your TV before you can receive any channels.

Instructions

1. Screw the coaxial plug on the end of your antenna's cable onto the coaxial input on your television set. This coaxial input connects the antenna directly to your TV tuner, which is the device that decodes over-the-air television signals and turns them into audio and video.

2. Plug in your TV antenna (if applicable). Any wall outlet or surge protector will do.

3. Turn on your TV.

4. Press "Menu" on your TV's remote.

5. Select the "Scan" option. This may be on the first "Menu" screen you see or it may be under a "Channels" sub-menu; it will depend on your specific model of TV. This will configure your TV to use the antenna which will result in you receiving the over-the-air TV signals once the scan is complete.
