A Pioneer VSX 908 RDS is a receiver. This component of a home audio system acts as a tuner and amplifier that has inputs for CD players, a turntable, tape, speakers as well as a few other input sources. It also features tone and volume controls. Pioneer Corporation, based in Japan, specializes in producing digital entertainment components. Its products are well known and trusted, but, as with any audio system, glitches can occur. A glitch is usually fairly simple to troubleshoot, whether it be a mute control that needs to be deactivated, or resetting the unit due to static electricity.
Instructions
1. Disconnect the A/C power cord from the wall outlet and then plug it back in again if the power does not turn on. It could be that the protection circuit was activated. Press "Power" on the remote control or the receiver. Perform this reset if the unit does not respond when the buttons are pressed. Static electricity can sometimes be the cause of this.
2. Press "Mute" on the remote control if no sound is heard when a function is selected. Press "Speakers" (AB) to select and turn on the speakers you have connected.
3. Press the "FL (fluorescent display) Dimmer" button on the front of the unit if the display is dark. Press the button repeatedly to cycle through the four levels of brightness until the display is visible.
4. Turn off the receiver and allow it to sit for a few hours if condensation forms within the unit. This can happen when moving the receiver from a cold location to a warm location. It can also occur if the unit is in the draft of an air conditioner.
5. Set the subwoofer to "Plus" if the output is very low. This will allow more signals to the subwoofer. You can try setting the front speakers to "Small."
6. Remove any obstacles between the remote control and the sensor on the receiver if the unit does not respond to the remote.
