Play DVDs from anywhere in the world by changing your player's region.
Every DVD produced has a region setting that indicates a region of the world in which the DVD can play. The Pioneer DV-300 DVD player can be set to play in one of those regions, reading the discs from the region its set for but displaying an error message when you attempt to play a DVD coded for a region outside its setting. While this limits the DVD player's ability, it's a limitation that can be overcome by unlocking new regions for use with the player. Using the player's menu, you can select any region in the world for play of that region's discs.
Instructions
1. Create a pass code for your DVD player using the remote control to access the menu system. The pass code is necessary to unlock a DVD region.
2. Open the main menu by pressing the "Menu" button on the remote control. Navigate through the menu using the arrow keys on the remote until you highlight "Options." Press the "Enter" button to open the Options screen.
3. Select "Password" in the Options screen. When directed to do so, input a four-digit password. Be careful when entering the password as the numbers appear as an "*" on the screen. Press "Enter" to register the password with the unit and return to the Options screen.
4. Select "Country Code" from the Options screen to unlock a new region. Input the password using the number keys on your remote and then press "Enter."
5. Enter the code for a country within the region you're wishing to unlock using the arrow keys to navigate through the country list. You can determine which country falls within which DVD region by checking a DVD region map available online at websites dealing with home theaters, such as Home Theater Info, or DVD sales, like Amazon.com.
