A Slingbox enables live or recorded television broadcasts to be transmitted through the Internet for viewing on a web browser. You can connect the video output of a widescreen (WD) television to a Slingbox, and send a TV program that is being displayed through the Internet in real-time. A few cables will be needed, some of which are supplied with the Slingbox and others which might already be in the home or can be purchased from a computer or electronics store.
Instructions
1. Place the Slingbox next to the wide-screen (WD) television. Plug the Slingbox's power cord into a wall outlet for power.
2. Insert the plug of the infrared (IR) emitter cable into the IR port on the Slingbox. Place the end of the IR emitter cable in front of the TV, so that the bulb-tipped end is pointing towards the TV's front panel.
3. Insert one end of an Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the Slingbox. Insert the other end of the Ethernet cable into an open Ethernet port on the router that is a part of your wired home network.
4. Insert one end of a Composite cable into the Composite video output on the back of the TV. Insert the other end of the composite cable into the composite video input on the Slingbox.
5. Launch the default web browser by selecting it from the "Start" and "All Applications" pop-up menu. Sign up for an account by following the menu commands and entering the personal information requested - -this will include information about the Slingbox you are using, as well as about you. Select the "Installation" assistant from the web page and follow the menu commands to set up your Slingbox to transmit live television broadcasts.
