Reprogram A Directv Remote Control

If you have a DirecTV remote that is not programmed, you will have to know reprogram it to control the satellite receiver or any other electronics you were controlling with the remote. Follow these steps to reprogram it so it works again.

Reprogram a Direct TV Remote








1. Take the remote and start the programming with the satellite receiver. Once you place the batteries in the remote, point it at the receiver and press the SAT button. Allow this button to perform its test. When the red light stops blinking, press the start button to turn on the satellite receiver. The receiver and the remote should now be synced.


2. Program your TV so you can control it with the DirecTV remote. With the TV on, press the TV button and the Mute button together. Hold for a second and release both buttons. Now you should have a red light on the TV button. Use the arrow up key to manually find your code for that TV. Continue to tap the arrow up button until the device turns off. Once the power turns off, press the TV button to accept the code.








3. Program the VCR or DVD player by using the VCR button. Stand in front of the device with it on and press the VCR and Mute button. Hold for a second and release. The VCR button will stay red. Use the arrow up to find the right code to control the VCR or DVD. Tap the arrow up key slowly until the VCR or DVD player turns off. Then press the VCR button on the remote to accept this code.


4. Program the AUX button to control your audio receiver by performing the same steps in step 2 or 3. If you have no audio receiver, you can make the AUX button control the sound on your TV. Press the AUX button and the Mute button and hold for a second. Then release and press the Volume up button. Your TV volume is now controlled by the AUX key.
