Set Up Prolink With A Radio Shack Pro2017

The RadioShack Pro-2017 desktop scanner supports up to 200 channels. To avoid having to program your frequencies into the scanner's channels one at a time, you can use your computer to upload multiple frequencies into the scanner all at once. With the help of the associated ProLink software, you can import frequency lists to the scanner or put together your own list of frequencies for upload from ProLink.

Instructions

1. Switch off your Pro-2017's power switch.

2. Connect your Pro-2017 to your computer via a 3.5 mm to DB-9 cable. Plug the 3.5 mm end of the cable into the headphone port on the back of the Pro-2017. Plug the DB-9 end of the cable into a serial port on the back of your computer.

3. Download a free copy of the ProLink software (see Resources). Install the program and then launch it.

4. Double-click on the fields in the program's main window to alter them. Key in the frequencies that you wish to program into the fields under the "Frequency" heading. Use the "Description" field to add a brief description of the adjacent frequency.

5. Change the fields below the "Delay," "Lockout" and "Priority" fields to "True" to add delay to the adjacent frequency, lock it out from scanning or set the frequency as a priority.

6. Press and hold the "9" and "Ent" keys on your Pro-2017 until the screen displays "wirED."

7. Click on the "Upload All" button back in the ProLink utility. Click "OK" when prompted.
