More Random Access Memory To A Windows Pc

More RAM (random access memory) in your windows PC will help it run faster. RAM's primary function is to increase the amount of data space available for non-storage purposes.

Instructions

1. Check the specifications of your motherboard against those of the RAM. Different types of motherboards and RAM cards use different formats. Make sure that both run on the same format. Also, check how much RAM your motherboard will support. If you add more RAM than your motherboard can support, it will not take advantage of the extra memory. Also, check the physical length of the RAM cards against the length of the slots, to be sure the card can fit in the slot.

2. Open your computer's case so that the motherboard is accessible. This is quite important as all the work will be done on the motherboard.

3. Open the clips on both ends of the RAM slot. This is important because if you attempt to stuff the card in, you risk damage to both the card and the slot.

4. Insert the RAM card. Make sure you have it facing in the right direction, as inserting it the wrong way could lead to damage.

5. Close the clips on both sides of the slot. This is important because if the computer is ever jostled and the clips are open, the cards could fall out.

6. Replace your motherboard into its previous position and close the case.
