Scan A Low Resolution Image For High Resolution Use

If you have a small or low resolution image that you need to scale up to a larger high resolution image, you will have to be very careful how you scan it. What you do to the image after you enlarge it is the most important part of the process. For this, you will need a good graphics program such as Adobe Photoshop.

Instructions

1. Scan the image you want to use and save it to your computer. Use the highest quality and resolution (DPI) settings your scanner software will allow.

2. Open Photoshop. Select "File" and click "Open." Browse to the scanned image and open it.

3. Select "Image" and click "Image Size." If you have CS2 or above, select "Bicubic Smoother" at the bottom and increase the size and resolution to what you want. If you have an older version of Photoshop, make sure that you have "Bicubic" selected at the bottom. Increase the size by 10 percent. Increase the resolution by 20 percent. Continue doing this by steps until you get to the size and resolution you want.
