Use a Sirius car antenna to access satellite radio from your boat.
Sirius satellite radio gives you access to many commercial-free music and entertainment stations that you cannot access through standard radio stations. Furthermore, this may come in very handy if you do not have access to land-based stations while out on the water. Use a car or boat antenna in conjunction with a Sirius satellite radio plug-and-play receiver to set up on-board service. Everything you need to get started comes in your Sirius satellite radio hardware self-installation kit.
Instructions
1. Connect the Sirius satellite radio receiver to a power source by inserting the power adapter included in your kit into an electrical outlet or cigarette lighter on your boat.
2. Connect your Sirius satellite radio to a car or boat antenna. Waterproof boat or marine antennas are ideal for this type of setup. Insert the antenna's signal output cable to the satellite radio receiver or cradling dock's "Antenna In" port.
3. Aim the Sirius car or marine antenna due south and mount it in a location that minimizes potential obstruction from on-board devices, such as sails and masts. Your Sirius car antenna will not always be directly facing due south if your boat moves, which makes an unobstructed view imperative.
4. Connect the Sirius satellite radio receiver to your stereo system. Sirius docking cradles have ports for your satellite radio receiver. Insert the included audio input cable into an available audio input port on your boat's stereo system. You may also tune the boat's standard radio to the station your receiver displays. This step is not necessary for Sirius stand-alone radios, which have receivers.
5. Activate your Sirius satellite radio receiver by calling Sirius customer service or visiting their website and following the setup instructions. The customer service number will be included in your Sirius satellite radio hardware package but will also show up on your receiver display when you first connect it.
