Pioneer Corporation, a Japanese-based manufacturer of digital entertainment electronics, assigns the "Premier" label to some of its products. This is to denote high-end Pioneer devices exclusive to only the North American market.
CD Players
A major component of the Pioneer line-up are its in-dash car CD players. Major features include Bluetooth wireless technology; USB ports to plug in external digital media players like iPods; OEL (organic light emitting diode) or LCD (liquid crystal display) screens; and the ability to play MP3, WMA, WAV and iTunes AAC digital audio formats.
Other Premier Products
The Pioneer Premier designation applies to products besides CD players. As of June 2010, the company has a 12-inch Premier subwoofer called the Champion Series, with choices of the Dual-Voice Coil 2-ohm (TS-W1207D2) and 4-ohm (TS-W1207D2). A mono amplifier is also available, and in the early 2000s, the company made a line of speakers called the Premier Reference Series.
Warranty
All Premier-branded products come with a two-year warranty. According to the company's website, this is double the warranty period that other manufacturers currently offer. The subwoofers, when installed by a Premier authorized retailer, have an additional three-year extended warranty.
Prices
The Pioneer Premier line comprises the company's most expensive electronics. As of 2010, the manufacturer's suggested retail price range for CD players is around $300 to $600. The MSRP for the Premier subwoofer is $120, while that of the amplifier is $550.
Dealers
As of June 2010, Pioneer Premier products can be purchased at retailers such as Al-Eds.com, Best Buy, Car Toys, Crutchfield, Electronic Express, The Specialists.com and Wal-Mart. The products can also be purchased directly from Pioneer.
