The iPhone comes pre-installed with a stopwatch feature in the Clock application that allows users to time specific events. The stopwatch feature is a convenient way to record the duration of events and is accurate to a tenth of a second. There is also a lap feature that allows users to track a repetitive event--such as running a lap--and separately record the time that each lap takes. The iPhone stopwatch is extremely easy to use and takes just moments to prepare.
Instructions
Timing a Single Event
1. Open the Clock application by clicking on its icon from your phone's home screen.
2. Select "Stopwatch" at the bottom of the screen. This brings up a timer that is set to zero by default.
3. Click on the green "Start" button to start the stopwatch. The numbers will now go up as the timer increases.
4. Click on the red "Stop" button to stop the stopwatch. The time is then displayed in large white letters at the top of the screen.
5. Click on the gray "Reset" button to bring the timer back to zero and restart the stopwatch.
Timing Laps
6. Click on the green "Start" button to start the stopwatch.
7. Click on the gray "Lap" button after each lap. The stopwatch records the time of each lap and displays each time in a list below the timer, but the timer continues.
8. Click on the red "Stop" button to stop the stopwatch. All laps and their accompanying times are displayed in reverse chronological order, with the last lap displayed first.
9. Click on the gray "Reset" button to bring the timer back to zero and restart the stopwatch.
