Hotsync A Treo 650 Using Bluetooth

One of the ways to send information from your Treo 650 to your personal computer is to HotSync the two through a Bluetooth wireless connection. Connecting wirelessly is easy. All you need is a computer with a Bluetooth adapter, and these steps.

Instructions

Setting Up Your Computer

1. Make sure your computer has a Bluetooth adapter either built-in or attached. If it doesn't, purchase a Bluetooth adapter at your local electronics retailer.

2. Turn your Bluetooth connection to "Discoverable," which means that it will show up when you're searching for available Bluetooth connections.

3. Install the Palm Desktop HotSync Manager. You will need this to connect your Treo 650 to your desktop.

Setting Up Your Treo 650

4. Open the menu on your Treo 650 by pressing the button that looks like a house on the left side of the keyboard. Scroll down to the Prefs menu and select it.

5. Select "Setup Devices" and then select "HotSync Setup." Make sure you also select Bluetooth HotSync.

6. Select "Next" at the bottom right of the screen. Now, you will be looking at a list of nearby Bluetooth devices. Select your personal computer and then select OK on the bottom left of the screen.

7. Create a virtual serial port on your desktop computer. You'll need to consult your computer manual to do this, as every computer is different.

8. Launch the HotSync manager on your desktop by right clicking the HotSync icon in the system tray. Select "Setup." Select "Local," and select the name of the serial port you created earlier.

9. Click "Next" on your Treo 650. Click the HotSync button in the system tray on your desktop.

10. Click "Launch HotSync" on your Treo 650. Now, your Treo 650 will sync wirelessly whenever you tap the HotSync icon in your menu.
