Instructions
1. Find the "Power" button on your camcorder--this will be the green button located where the right thumb rests when holding the camcorder in your right hand. Once the camcorder is on, you can either set it to "VCR" or "Camera" mode by turning the "Power" button to one of these two functions. In VCR mode, you can watch, fast-forward, and rewind what you've already recorded when you look through the viewfinder (eyepiece); in Camera mode, you will see everything that's in front of you when you look through the viewfinder--this is the mode you need the camcorder to be in when you begin recording.
2. Keep the camcorder on and press the tiny blue "Eject" button in, then slide the button downwards to open the cassette holder. Once the cassette holder opens, place your MiniDV cassette inside the cassette holder, then close the inner metal frame of the cassette holder and push the outer lid cassette holder (push on the spot where you see "Push" written on it) to close the cassette holder completely.
3. Make sure that your camcorder's battery is fully charged (if it isn't, press the "Battery release" button on the camera to take the battery out of the camcorder and place it in its charger; replace the battery once it is charged.) Also, make sure that you have the lens cap off the lens before beginning to record.
4. Set your camcorder up in the position where you want to shoot, then press the "Record" button to start recording. This is the red button located where your thumb would be if you were holding the camcorder in your right hand. You will see the "REC" message in your viewfinder, indicating that you are recording.
5. Adjust the camera's focus by either setting the "Focus" function on the camcorder to "Auto," which will automatically focus the lens for you, or by choosing the "Manual" setting. If you chose the manual setting, you will need to focus the lens by hand.
6. Adjust the zoom of camcorder by pushing the "T" button to get a closer shot of something, or the "W" button to get a wider shot.
7. Press the red "Record" button again to stop the recording when you are finished. Eject the tape and take it out of the camcorder.
