Carefully inspect the Fujifilm FinePix 4900Z lens for any evidence of debris.
The Fujifilm FinePix 4900Z was released by Fuji in 2000. The camera is a compact digital camera built around a 2.4 megapixel Super CCD (charged coupled device) sensor. The camera also featured a large 6x optical zoom lens that featured manual and auto focusing abilities. The focal length of the lens covered a 35mm equivalent of 35mm at its widest to 210mm at its maximum zoom position. The zoom functions were located on the side of the camera, along with a switch for manual and auto-focusing. The lens had a traditional focusing ring on it for manual operation.
Instructions
1. With the camera turned off, first inspect the lens. Look for any foreign debris that may be stuck between the side of the lens and its housing. These lenses extend and retract into the camera during their zoom function. It is possible the lens may have dragged a small piece of debris or sand into the camera that may affecting the lens performance.
2. Review the picture you took. If the picture is in focus but not on the right subject, then you may have the lens focusing point set to a different area of the scene you are photographing.
3. Make the sure the lens focusing is turned to "Auto Focus."
4. Hold the camera to your eye and once focused on the subject, press the button just to the right of the viewfinder with a magnifying glass icon. This button is the focus-check or focus-preview button and will create an enlargement of the scene in the viewfinder so you can double-check to make sure the subject really is in focus.
5. Replace the batteries. Digital cameras need power, and a lot of that power goes to operating the lens. If the batteries are low in power or not producing a consistent charge, this may also cause the lens not to work.
