Macro photography produces extreme close-ups.
The Canon S5 is a mid-level point and shoot camera. It offers the benefits of digital photography, such as instant image review, without the high price tag of more advanced models. One of its features, a dedicated "Macro" mode, can be helpful when taking extreme close-ups. This will lower the minimum distance required to focus down to 0cm to 50cm. Macro photographs are most often used to show the detail and texture of an object.
Instructions
1. Turn on the camera and rotate the shooting dial to the "Auto" mode to shoot pictures automatically.
2. Press the "Macro" button, which has an icon of a flower, to activate the Macro mode. Press and hold the macro button for one second to activate the "Super Macro" mode, which magnifies the subject even further.
3. Use the zoom dial to zoom in and out. A yellow area will appear within the zoom bar indicating a zoom amount that cannot be used in Macro mode.
4. Place the camera near the subject and press the shutter button halfway to gain focus.
5. Press the shutter button fully to take the photo. Look at the LCD screen for a brief review of the image.
