Electromagnetic interference can degrade the quality of your Citizens' Band radio's reception and its broadcasts. EMI can be generated by an array of sources, ranging from TV towers and power lines to radios and cell phones. While some reception issues are beyond your control, the Cobra 29's on-board hardware can help you decrease radio static and pick up a clearer signal.
Instructions
1. Tweak the "Delta Tune" knob to fine-tune your channel selection, and use the "RF Gain" knob to increase weak signals and decrease strong signals.
2. Set the "NB/ANL ANL" switch to "ANL" to turn on the automatic noise limiter and eliminate static in moderately strong signals. Set the switch to "NB/ANL" to increase the clarity of poor signals.
3. Test your radio without your car running. If the static is significantly less without the car's engine running, then you're likely receiving interference from the engine or alternator. Take your car and CB radio to a car audio shop to have a ground loop isolator installed.
