Polaroid transfer techniques allow you to print photographs on many surfaces, such as watercolor paper, ceramic mugs and T-shirts. You need a special pull-apart film that is available at most camera retail stores. Doing the Polaroid transfers yourself allows you to express your creativity by making the edges look aged and rough or adding color with paint suitable for the surface to which you transferred the image.
Instructions
1. Take a photo with your Polaroid Land camera using the pull-apart film. Pull the film slowly out of the camera through the rollers, going at an even pace. Don't stop in the middle, or a line will appear in the finished image.
2. Wait 15 seconds, then pull the film apart.
3. Place the negative side of the film -- the one where the image appears reversed -- face down onto your surface. Roll it with your craft roller to ensure the entire image is pressed firmly against the surface. Allow it to sit for 20 minutes.
4. Spritz the back of the film and the back of your surface with water, making sure the image doesn't move around on the surface. Peel the film away gently, starting with the corners. If an area of the image appears to stick and not release easily, spritz it with some more water before continuing to pull.
