The Epson Stylus CX4450 is an inkjet printer, meaning it sprays liquid ink onto the media as it feeds through the inside of the printer. The device comes with Epson's PhotoImpression software, allowing you to edit your digital photo files before printing them. Besides printing, the CX4450 can scan and make copies using the flatbed scanner located on the top portion of the machine.
Power and Environment
The CX4450 requires between 100 and 120 volts to operate. The printer uses about 4.5 watts while in standby mode, with its electrical consumption going up to 15.6 watts when printing. The CX4450 is an Energy Star-compliant device. Epson recommends you use the printer in an environment where the relative humidity measures between 20 percent and 80 percent, and the temperature falls between 50 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit.
Paper
The printer can handle paper as wide as 8.5 inches with a length between 3.5 and 44 inches. The printer can also produce borderless photo printouts in most standard frame sizes. The printer can handle envelope types C6, No. 10 and DL.
The CX4450 can print on most forms of media, including plain paper, photo paper, transparencies and scrapbooking paper. The input tray can hold up to 80 pieces of plain printer paper or 20 sheets of photo paper. The printer's copier can handle sheets up to standard size.
Performance
The Stylus CX4450 produces printouts with a maximum resolution of 5760 by 1440 dpi. The printer can print up to 25 pages per minute in black and 13 pages per minute in color. The scanner has a resolution of up to 600 by 1200 dpi.
Ink
The printer uses black, cyan, magenta and yellow inks housed in separate print cartridges. The black ink has a print head with 90 nozzles while each of the three color inks use print heads with 29 nozzles. The printer's DuraBrite Ultra ink lasts up to 105 years without fading, according to Epson.
