Connect A Sony Analog Handycam To A Pc

The rise in digital camcorder technology allows more people to capture video, import it onto their computer, and edit it. While the process is fairly simple for those using newer technology, those still using analog cameras may struggle as the process is completely different and may require a media converter. However, once you have a media converter, the process of transferring video from your Sony analog Handycam to your PC is fairly straightforward.

Instructions

1. Plug your RCA cables into your Sony analog Handycam. Make sure the colors match up (the red cable goes into the red hole, for instance.)

2. Plug the other end of the cable into the back of your Sony media converter. Again, make sure the colors match up.

3. Plug your i.Link cable into the back of your Sony media converter. Plug the other end of the i.Link cable into the back of your computer.

4. Switch your Sony analog Handycam into VTR mode using the same switch that you use to turn on your camera.

5. Press "Analog In" on your Sony media converter. The button is on the front of the machine.

6. Press the "Play" button on your Sony Handycam. A connection will be made with your computer.
