Many manufacturers offer 50mm lenses compatible with Pentax cameras.
With its budget-friendly price tag as far as DSLRs are concerned, the Pentax KD10 leaves photographers with a lot of money to devote to extras such as specialized lenses. While all Pentax autofocus 35mm lenses will mount onto the KD10 body, several other manufacturers offer lenses that are compatible with Pentax, allowing for a wide range of options that allow photographers to tackle a variety of shooting situations.
Tamron AF 18-200mm XR Di-II
An all-around workhorse, Tamron's XR Di-II lens is available for purchase with mounts that make it compatible with Pentax autofocus cameras. Ideal for photographers who don't want to swap lenses often, the lens is capable of producing wide-angle 18mm shots to tightly focused 200mm zoom shots. Although its f/stop range is modest, with settings between f/3.6 and f/6.3, it still boasts enough aperture to shoot in most everyday lighting conditions without seriously impacting shutter speeds.
Sigma APO 50-500mm DG OS HSM
Offering magnification up to 10 times the normal viewfinder image, the Sigma APO 50-500mm lens offers the versatility to move between mid-range 50mm focal lengths to heavy telephoto properties. Sigma incorporates an image stabilization feature to make long-distance shooting without a tripod or monopod feasible, and the DG OS HSM's built-in handle makes operating the camera without extra support an easy task.
Pentax DA 10-17mm Fish-Eye
Fish-eye lenses allow an artistic flourish while providing photographers with a 180-degree field of vision. While many manufacturers offer a fish-eye lens, Pentax's DA 10-17mm is acceptable for art shots as well as wide-angle architectural photography, and can focus on points as close as 5.5 inches from the lens.
Sigma 50mm F1.4 EX DG HSM
This prime lens doesn't offer photographers zoom capabilities, but its wide maximum aperture setting of f/1.4 is fast enough when coupled with high ISO speeds to capture movement even in low light situations such as rock concerts. Its compact size makes it an easy-to-pack addition to any camera bag. Although its lack of an aperture ring on the Pentax model will require clumsier f-stop manipulations on the camera body, it's a highly functional, everyday prime lens.
