Tracfone is a prepaid mobile service provider that allows you to purchase cell phones and air time without a contract. You pay for only what you use and you don't have a monthly bill. The Motorola C139 is a basic phone used for making calls, and it has no camera or MP3 player. If you purchased the C139 through Tracfone it may have come locked. This helps to insure that you continue using Tracphone's service. However, if you would like to switch to a different service provider you can unlock your phone.
Instructions
1. Search for an online store that offers unlock codes for Motorola C139. Each unlock code can cost from $9.99 to $29.99. See Resource links for a list of stores.
2. Get your phone's IMEI number. On your phone's keypad, type in "*#06#." A 15-digit number will appear. This is your IMEI number. Copy this on a piece of paper. You will later need the number to get your unlock code.

5. Turn on your Motorola C139. A prompt will say "Enter Subsidy Code." Type in the unlock code that was sent to you. Wait for the phone to reboot. Once it is finished, your phone will be unlocked.
