Fixing your SDHC problems might take only a single step.
Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) memory cards can hold many songs, pictures, videos and other data. SDHC cards may stop working or being recognized by your computer due to a compatibility issue, or it could be something more serious. You can troubleshoot the most common problems in a few short steps.
Instructions
1. Check whether your computer or device is compatible with SDHC cards. Many older devices are compatible with regular SD cards but don't work with SDHC cards.
2. Read the device's instruction manual to ensure it's compatible with the data on the SDHC card.
3. Eject the card from your device. Check for debris on the connectors and wipe it away with a lint-free soft cloth. Reinsert your SDHC card and push it in, listening to hear a slight "click" to ensue a proper connection.
4. Click the "Start" button on your desktop (or "Windows" logo in Vista) and click "My Computer." Right-click your SDHC card under "Devices With Removable Storage" and select "Format." Leave the default options and click "Start Format."
5. Remove your SDHC card and examine it from the top to look for a notch on the left. If you see one, the card is write-protected and nothing can be saved to the card. If you see a sliding notch, slide it in the opposite direction. Reinsert the card and try to save something to it.
6. Visit your device manufacturer's website. Look for the "Support" link or tab and find your device. Search for the area with the latest driver's and/or firmware and download them. Eject and reinsert your card to see if its working.
