Sony Digital 8 Instructions For Vista

It is possible to directly upload video files onto your Windows computer system.

Sony Digital 8 video camcorders capture content onto an inserted Digital8 video tape. This tape is roughly the same size as a cassette tape and has since been replaced by the smaller mini-DV or camcorders that record onto mini-DVDs and internal hard drives. If you have such a video camera it is still possible to upload the data onto your Windows Vista computer system.

Instructions

1. Plug the FireWire cable into the FireWire port on the Sony Direct8 video camera.

2. Insert the opposite end of the cable into a FireWire port on the Windows Vista computer system.

3. Launch Windows Movie Maker, located on the system's "Start" menu. Power on the Sony Digital8 video camera and click on the "Capture" option in the video editor.

4. Choose the Sony Digital8 camcorder from the list of import options. Click on "Capture" and the content from the Sony video camera will upload directly onto the Windows Vista system. Click on "Stop" at any time to stop the record process.
