Recover An Sdhc Card

The data on a damaged memory card can sometimes be recovered.

SDHC (secure digital high capacity) cards are easily damaged, either through clumsiness or just bad luck. Often, they become corrupted so that when inserted into a device, the device is unable to read the information. SDHC cards contain a memory chip within the card, and if the chip is intact, your photos, videos and music are likely able to be salvaged.

Instructions

1. Check that the memory chip in the card is undamaged. According to Recoverfab, a company that recovers such lost data, this can be done by opening the plastic casing of the card and viewing the chip. Look for cracks in the chip, as these render the data lost.

2. Purchase memory card recovery software. There are many available, such as MemoryCardRestore or Recover Plus Photo Recovery. There are even some free downloads, like Undeleter: Safe File Recovery. Just be sure the software you choose is compatible with your operating system.

3. Send or take your card to a reputable recovery expert. Recoverfab will recover your data for a reasonable fee, and if your data is lost, will not charge anything.
