Set The Time On A Cingular Cell Phone

Changing the time on a cell phone is a simple process.

Although most cell phones are equipped with technology that automatically updates their time, occasionally you may need to change it manually. For example, a phone may fail to update automatically during daylight saving time, or you may need to keep a work phone set on another time zone to communicate at appropriate business hours. Manually changing the time on a Cingular phone is a brief process.

Instructions

1. Push the button on the keypad that corresponds to the "Menu" label on the phone screen.

2. Push the directional keys until the "Settings" menu is highlighted. Usually, this symbol is in the lower-right corner when looking at the phone. The symbol is a folder with gears inside. Push the center selector button.

3. Scroll down to "Set Time & Date." It may be option No. 4, depending on the model of phone. Push the center button.

4. Push the directional key to the right so that "Time Zone Updating" changes to display "Manual Only." Then move down twice so that "Time" is highlighted. Enter the new time. Press the left selection key on the keypad, labeled "Save" on the screen above the corresponding button. The time is now set.
