Safely Move An Hdtv

Moving an HDTV safely requires common sense and some muscle. The majority of all reported damages to HDTVs occur when they are being moved. It is usually caused by carelessness or poor communication. Go slowly and make sure your path is free of obstructions.

Instructions

Move an HDTV Safely

1. Use a forklift if you can. This is how HDTVs are moved in the warehouse and it's really the safest way to do it.

2. Move your HDTV using a dolly or hand truck. Always wheel your HDTV whenever possible to avoid dropping or jarring motions. It takes the strain off your body as well.

3. Ask a friend to help you move. This large, heavy, expensive piece of technology will require at least two strong people to move across a room.

4. Leave long-distance transports to trained professionals. You and a friend can probably move it across a room or into the next room, but don't try to carry it down the block to watch the Superbowl at your friend's house.

5. Find a place for your HDTV that won't involve transporting it up or down stairs. Stairs are the most dangerous place in your home. If you live in an apartment building, use the elevator instead.

6. Bend down low and grab the underside of your HDTV set firmly with both hands. You should lift using the strength of your legs, not your back. This will help you avoid injury to your back and will make moving the set easier.

7. Make sure you have a clear line of sight. Clear your path of anything that might create a tripping hazard.

8. Communicate with your partner. The individual who is facing a more natural direction and who has a better line of sight should be the one giving encouragement and notification if any hazards are coming up.

9. Rest as often as needed. Stop frequently, put the HDTV down carefully and catch your breath before you begin again.

10. Have your HDTV moved, mounted and installed by a professional technician to avoid damaging it in transit. Professional technicians often work in teams and have the proper equipment to safely move and install large televisions.
