Fix Corrupt Lexar Memory Cards

Lexar builds all sorts of memory cards. Common Lexar memory card styles are SD, SDHC and CompactFlash. When any of these cards receive a corrupted data error, the cards needs to be formatted. This removes all errors on the card. As a side effect, all of the information stored on the card will be erased. To format one of these memory cards, use a computer combined with the appropriate card reader.

Instructions

1. Insert the memory card into the appropriate memory card reader. For instance, if you are using a CompactFlash camera, use a CompactFlash card reader.

2. Attach the card reader through a USB port on the computer.

3. Click the blue "Start" button. Click "Computer."

4. Right-click the memory card. If will be named "Lexar." Left-click "Format."

5. Choose a different file format by clicking on the file system box. If you want to keep the same file system, do not click the box. For a Lexar memory card, it should be using the FAT32 file system, as this is what file system that memory cards are required to be in for use in electronic devices. Click "Format" on the menu that appears to format the Lexar memory card.
