If you need to get a street-level view for your photographs or video, installing a camera mount on a remote-control car can give you the shots you need. It may also help you turn the car into a spy vehicle you can use to have some fun with your friends by getting shots when they are unaware. With just a few simple tools, in less than an hour you can mount your camera to a large remote-control car.
Instructions
1. Remove the top plastic section of the car. This will likely be the entire body of the vehicle, leaving the wheels, chassis and electronics exposed. The car should be large enough to handle the weight of the camera without tipping over.
2. Drill a 1/4-inch hole through the plastic or metal chassis of the remote-control car. Try to stay as close to the center as possible without drilling through electronic components.
3. Push the bolt up from the bottom of the chassis through the hole you drilled. Secure with a nut. Screw the wing nut onto the exposed end of the bolt with the wings facing down.
4. Screw the camera onto the bolt by placing the camera's tripod mount onto the bolt and turning the camera. Tighten it as much as possible, then turn it to face forward on the car. Tighten the wing nut against the bottom of the camera for extra security.
5. Activate your camera on a timer, or turn on your video camera and set it to record. Use your car's remote control to drive the vehicle to where you want to shoot photos or video. If your camera or camcorder have remote capabilities, use their remote controls to take photos, or start and stop your video as desired.
