Rubbing alcohol is an all-purpose cleaner. Used primarily in a medical setting and for medical purposes, rubbing alcohol can be used to sterilize all types of household items. Rubbing alcohol disinfects thoroughly by killing germs and bacteria. Rubbing alcohol is found in the cabinets and closets of many households, but it is largely ignored as an effective household cleaner.
Instructions
1. Dab alcohol on a cloth. Use rubber gloves if you do not want to get the alcohol on your hands. Depending on the size of the cleaning job, you can use fully concentrated alcohol, or you can dilute it by soaking the alcohol-drenched cloth in water.
2. Clean the places in your home that guests, family and friends touch on a regular basis, such as doorknobs, toilet handles, telephones and light switches. Rub the object with the alcohol-soaked cloth. This will disinfect the object and kill any bacteria.
3. Wipe down television and computer monitor screens, as they are notorious for collecting dust. Alcohol will remove all dust from the screen.
4. Shine brass and glass objects for rubbing alcohol. For example, wipe down any dirty mirrors in your home with alcohol, and the mirrors will have a nice shine.
5. Use alcohol to remove dirt and oil that may have built up on remote controls, video game controls, computer mice and other hand-held devices.
6. After you finish cleaning your home, thoroughly rinse out the cloth and hang it up to dry. Machine wash it, if you wish.
