Restore Deleted Sony Handycam Videos

The Sony Handycam is a digital camcorder that you can use to record home videos, sporting events or other types of activities. The video is stored on a hard drive that is built into the camcorder. If you have accidentally deleted a video that was stored on the Handycam, you may be able to recover it by using a software-recovery program. To do this you will need to connect the Handycam to your computer.


Instructions


PC Tools File Recovery


1. Turn on the Handycam by pressing the "Power" button.


2. Double-click the "PC Tools File Recovery" icon to run the program. Select your Sony Handycam for the drive to recover.


3. Click the "Quick Scan" button and then click the "Start Scan" tab to begin the recovery process.


4. Highlight the video file to restore and then click the "Restore" button.


WinUndelete


5. Press the "Power" button on the Handycam to turn it on.


6. Double-click the "WinUndelete" icon to run the program. Select your camcorder from the drive window that is displayed on the left panel.


7. Click the "Scan" button and wait while the software scans the hard drive on the Handycam. Any video files that are found will be listed on the right panel.


8. Highlight a video file and drag it to the desktop. Repeat this step to recover additional video files.


Micron Premium Data Recovery


9. Verify that the Handycam is turned on.


10. Double-click the "Micron Premium Data Recovery" icon to run the program.


11. Select your Handycam from the "Drive" menu that is at the center of the screen.


12. Click the "Arrow" that is at the bottom of the software window to scan the Handycam's hard drive.


13. Highlight the video file that you want to restore and then drag it onto the desktop. Repeat this step to recover additional video files.
