Rear Projection Tv Problems

Projection Televisions are reliable machines that hardly let you down. When they do break, however, fixing them is typically fairly simple. There are a few ways to repair your TV from common problems, without having to pay any out-of-pocket money.

Color Blotches

When you see blotches of color on your television, it is most likely a result of your TV becoming magnetized. An easy way to fix this requires only using a magnet. Make sure your television is on, grab your magnet and place it on the top left of the screen. Make little circles, progressively getting larger, until you have touched every part of the screen. Once you have done this, slowly back away from your television, continuing the circles. All of the color blotches should disappear if you have done this correctly.

Poor Picture Quality

When watching cable and your television has a poor, snowy-picture quality this may be a result from a loose wire. To fix this, locate the cable wire on the back of your television set and tighten it. If this doesn't work, you may have a broken cable wire and should get it replaced. Your service provider should replace the wire free of charge.

Television Randomly Shutting Off

If your television randomly shuts off without losing power, you most likely have an overheating issue. A good strategy to fix this is to make sure the television is getting good air flow, with all of the ducts uncovered. Dust off your television, as too much dust can cause overheating issues. There also may be something on your television emitting heat, some other electronic device, which could easily be causing your problems. If so, remove it.

Tips

If your television does not function, and you have tried all of the basic fixes, it is probably best if you hand your situation over to a professional to let him handle it. Before calling a professional, however, make sure that you have properly programmed your television first---especially if you are not getting reception on any channels. Methods vary on every TV, so refer to your manual on program your television.
