Build A Small & Cheap Robot

Build a Small & Cheap Robot

Building a robot is a good way to learn about the mechanics of robotics while creating something fun to play with. If you are inexperienced in building robots it is a good idea to start off with something small and inexpensive. This way you will be able to find out if building robots is something you are interested in pursuing further. If building this project interests you, there are more complicated robot building projects out there to undertake.

Instructions

1. Take the vibrator out of the cell phone or pager. There will be two wires coming out of the vibrator. Strip these wires of any plastic or rubber coating that they might have in order to connect them to the battery.

2. Cut off the head of the toothbrush with your knife to remove the handle. Cut off a piece of the double-sided foam tape. Remove the coating from both sides and stick it to the back of the toothbrush head.

3. Secure the vibrator to the back of the toothbrush head using the foam tape.

4. Stick one of the wires to the tape. Place the battery flat on top of the exposed wire to create a connection.

5. Touch the exposed wire that is not taped down to the top of the battery. This should turn on the vibrator.

6. Take another piece of tape and cover the exposed wire. Place the robot on a flat and smooth surface and watch it move around in various ways.
