The JL Audio 1000/1 amplifier is a powerful monoblock amplifier which runs subwoofers. Kicker's L7 subwoofers are dual-voice coil design subwoofers with powerful output. They're well-matched for each other, and wiring the two together that should take only a few minutes with basic tools and materials. Turn all your equipment off and unplug it before beginning.
Instructions
1. Cut two lengths of speaker wire with your wire cutters. Each should be long enough to reach from the speaker terminals of the subwoofer to the speaker terminals of the amplifier. Since each amp and subwoofer installation is a little different, you'll need to determine how much wire you'll need. It's easy to lay out the wire to the appropriate distance from one to the other and cut it to that length.
2. Remove 1/2 inch of insulation from the ends of each speaker wire with a set of wire strippers. Each speaker wire has two leads on each end, so make sure you do both of them. Note which of the leads are marked "+" and which are marked "-". If they're not marked, pick one lead to be the "+" lead based on its color or the printing on the cable.
3. Loosen the speaker terminals on the amplifier with a 2.5 mm Allen wrench. Loosen them enough so that the ends of the speaker wires can be inserted into them.
4. Insert the ends of the speaker wires into the speaker terminals. There are pairs of "+" and "-" terminals on the amplifier. Put the "+" and "-" leads from one speaker wire into one, and the leads from the other speaker wire into the other.
5. Push down on the red terminal on the back of the subwoofer until a hole opens in the terminal post. Note that there are two sets of terminals on the subwoofer -- either one will do fine. Insert the bare end of one of the "+" leads connected to the amplifier into the terminal and release the terminal to clamp the wire. Repeat with the "-" lead and the black terminal.
6. Repeat Step 5 with the other speaker wire and the other set of terminals on the subwoofer.
