Instructions


1. Connect the Sirius satellite radio receiver to a power source by inserting the power adapter included in your kit into an electrical outlet or cigarette lighter on your boat.








2. Connect your Sirius satellite radio to a car or boat antenna. Waterproof boat or marine antennas are ideal for this type of setup. Insert the antenna's signal output cable to the satellite radio receiver or cradling dock's "Antenna In" port.


3. Aim the Sirius car or marine antenna due south and mount it in a location that minimizes potential obstruction from on-board devices, such as sails and masts. Your Sirius car antenna will not always be directly facing due south if your boat moves, which makes an unobstructed view imperative.

Remove A 5d Aa Filter

An anti-aliasing filter sits behind the lens of the 5D.


Filters are great for adding effects to photographs while you're shooting. Programs like Photoshop can add these effects digitally later, but it's not quite the same. While most filters are a screw-on type that attaches to the end of any lens depending on the diameter, anti-aliasing (AA) filters typically sit inside the 5D between the lens and the mirror. Removal is a simple process.


Instructions


1. Work on the camera in a clean, relatively dust-free area. You will be removing the lens of the camera and exposing the 5D's sensor to the elements.


2. Make sure that the camera is off.


3. Depress the lens catch button. The 5D will be to the left of the lens.


4. Turn the lens to remove it from the camera. Looking at the 5D, you will be turning the lens counter-clockwise. Put the lens caps on each end of the lens before setting it down anywhere.


5. Using the small Phillips screwdriver, remove the two small, silver screws holding the square filter in place.

Charge Nihi Batteries

AA or AAA batteries commonly used in electronic gadgets vary in size and voltage specifications. Nickel-metal cells such as nickel hydrogen (Ni-Hi) batteries are rechargeable and are practically used for many devices including digital cameras, mobile phones portable media players and even some solar gadgets.


Like nickel-cadmium (Ni-Cd) and nickel-metal hydride (Ni-MH) batteries, nickel hydrogen batteries use rare earth metals. While each one varies in their charge and discharge capacity, self-discharge rate and shelf life, these nickel metal-based batteries are generally more stable compared to lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries.


Instructions


1. Check the battery indicator on your device to determine if you need to recharge your Ni-Hi batteries. Remove them from the device for recharging.


2. Place the batteries into the charger. Make sure that the positive and negative ends are in the correct positions.








Depending on the number of batteries to be charged, you may have to double your target time to finish charging more than one set.


3. Plug the charger into a wall outlet and check the light indicator to ensure that the batteries are charging accordingly. Most chargers feature a red light indicator that confirms the recharging of the batteries and a yellow or green light that indicates that batteries are fully charged.


4. Monitor the charging time. Depending on both the battery and the charger, charging time may be anywhere from one hour to a few hours. Refer to the specific instructions coming with your battery, electronic device or charger for the required charging time.


5. Unplug the charger and remove the batteries once the indicator shows that the batteries are already fully charged. Since the batteries are typically hot after charging, exercise extreme care when removing batteries from the charger. It is best to wait for a few minutes after unplugging the charger before removing the batteries. For safety, you may also use a small cloth, cardboard or paper to lift the hot batteries from the charger.








6. Insert the newly charged batteries in your electronic device.

Configure Firefox For Xm Radio

Instructions

3. Adjust the tripod and camera until you have composed the picture to your liking. Press the "Menu" button on the back of your camera and select the "Custom function" mode in your menu. Depending on the type of camera you are using, you may not have this feature. If you do, you want to enable "Mirror lock-up." This applies to single-lens-reflex cameras, and it locks the mirror up into the shooting position moments before the shutter fires. This minimizes camera shake caused by the mirror moving during exposure.


4. Press the shutter release halfway down to engage the metering and autofocus systems. When you are satisfied with the composition and have the exposure set, use the remote release to take the picture.


5. Review the picture on camera's LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) screen, make any adjustments to the exposure or focus, and take more pictures.

What Is A Mirror Lens

A mirror lens is a very specialized lens that uses mirrors instead of a typical lens. Mirror or reflex lenses are available for all major brands of cameras, either because they are in the manufacturer's catalog or because adapters are available to mount a third-party lens.


Optical Design


Mirror lenses use a catadioptric design that folds the light path in order to produce a compact lens. Mirror lenses are only available in long focal lengths because they are inexpensive to build and provide much better quality than similarly priced lens-based optics. A good quality mirror lens will cost between $120 and $250, depending on the manufacturer, while a good quality 500 mm lens will start at $900.








Size


A lens needs to have a length equal to the focal length. Because it uses a folded design, the mirror-based lens is much more compact. A 500 mm or 800 mm mirror-based lens is around 5 inches long instead of 20 to 30 inches for a regular lens. When compared to high-end lenses, mirror-based optics are compact with a width of 4 inches on average.


Focal Length and Ratio


There are no mirror-based zoom lenses and the focal ratio, usually F6.3, F8 or F11, is fixed. Because of their long focal length, mirror lenses are a good choice for on-a-budget nature and wildlife photographers.


Quality


While a mirror lens cannot compete against high-end lenses, they will be above and beyond any low-end lens on the market. A lens-based optic with good optical performance is costly to produce. A 500 mm lens can have 8 to 20 different lenses in the barrel; some of those lenses need to be made of expensive low dispersion glass to avoid chromatic aberration (color fringing on the picture) and constructed to the highest precision. A catadioptric design uses a spherical mirror that can be mass produced with good quality at a very low cost. The front plate, which is designed to correct the spherical aberration of the spherical mirror (point of light would appear as fuzzy balls) is also easy to mass produce. That design is not perfect because of the central obstruction and, while good, the mirror is not perfect. Low-end manufacturers, selling new lenses for $150, cannot produce lens-based optics that match the image quality of the mirror lens despite its design flaws.








Autofocus


The Sony SAL 500F80 and its Minolta predecessor is the only lens that has autofocus. All other lenses need to be focused manually. Because of their important focal ratio, the viewfinder is usually dim and will not allow for an accurate manual focus, except in very well lit situations.

What Is A Gradient Filter

A gradient filter is an optical filter that is dark at the top to reduce the intensity of light coming through it and clear at the bottom to allow it to pass through unchanged. Also known as a graduated neutral density filter, it helps photographers shoot bright subjects such as the daytime sky without their images being over exposed.


Purpose


Every camera operates within a range of brightness known as a dynamic range. Objects that are brighter than the maximum light level in this range will cause over exposure in the final image. To avoid this, photographers can place gradient filters over their camera lenses to reduce the intensity of the bright areas while leaving the other areas alone. This allows photographers more options in terms of their aperture, shutter speed and ISO levels as they can adjust these settings based on their artistic preference without worrying about over exposure.


Types








There are two basic types of gradient filter. The first gradually fades from dark to clear, while the second changes its density more abruptly. Gradient filters with gradual fades are said to have a "soft edge." Filters with less gradual fades are said to have a "hard edge." In practice, most gradient filters have a soft edge to some extent.


Uses


Photographers generally use gradient filters to shoot landscape images during the day. Soft-edged gradient filters are useful when the scene being photographed starts off bright at the top and gradually gets darker toward the bottom, such as in the case of shooting horizon with a diffuse tree line. In situations where the brightness of the subject changes suddenly and dramatically, such as in the case of shooting the horizon over the ocean, harder edged gradient filters are more useful.


Considerations








The advent of digital photography has led to the creation of image editing tools that allow photographers to selectively adjust the brightness of images during the post-production process. However, if there's too much light present at the time a digital image is taken, it may cause "clipping." This is when the light is so intense that it actually results in data loss. While there are ways of masking this in post production, there is no way to eliminate the effect entirely.

Develop Black & White Film With Orange Juice

The vitamin C in orange juice can be used to develop black and white camera film.


According to Roger K. Bunting, author of the book "The Chemistry of Photography," there are numerous household products that can be used to develop and process camera film. In an article published by "Shutterbug" magazine, he states that vitamin C is an excellent development agent. Orange juice contains vitamin C, but Bunting claims that vitamin C tablets are a more suitable alternative because of the higher concentration of the vitamin, but orange juice that is sufficiently high in vitamin could be used. The idea of using orange juice to develop film made its way into urban lore during an episode of "MacGyver."


Instructions


1. Set up the darkroom. You can use anywhere as a darkroom provided it has sufficient space and the capability to black out all light. Many people convert their basement, where you can use black garbage bags to black out your windows.


2. Make the development agent. Fill your tray with 12 oz. of orange juice, 5 tsp. of instant coffee powder and 3 1/2 tsp. of washing soda. Mix the ingredients in the tray.


3. Load your black and white film. This must be done in total darkness as you will be exposing the undeveloped negatives. Transfer your camera film on to a developing reel so that you can accurately and easily submerge it in the development solution. Transfer the film on to the developing reel by slowly feeding it on with your hands. Once it is on, gently place the development reel inside the developing tank.


4. Turn on the lights. Now that the film is inside the development tank, pour in the development solution. Remove the rubber lid from the development tank, and submerge the black and white film with the solution. Replace the lid.


5. Allow the chemicals to take effect. The type and size of film will dictate how long you leave the film submerged. If you don't know how long it takes, consult the manufacturer's instructions. Gently rock the development tank once a minute for the first three minutes, then leave it to stand.


6. Wash the film. Once the chemicals have taken effect, carefully rinse off any excess residue.


7. Hang the film. Use a washing line or piece of string, and peg the negatives up to dry.


8. Develop the negatives. Do this either using a printer at a professional darkroom or by scanning them in to your computer.

Each type of shot serves a purpose.








Over the course of any film or pictorial, you're likely to run into many styles of camera shots that cinematographers and photographers use to display a subject and its context. These different shots, all of which are unique, serve very different purposes throughout the concept of any movie or within a picture.


Wide Shot


The wide shot is one of the more basic types of camera shots. It typically includes the subject, which can be a character, and includes everything around him. Wide shots use deep focus, meaning that everything in the picture is sharp, without anything in particular focus.


Close-up Shot








Close-up shots pay particular attention to the actors' faces, usually with their faces taking up the entire screen with the background blurred, giving it a dreamy quality. Close-ups can also focus on other objects that the director wants the audience to pay particular attention to. A variation of the close-up is the extreme close-up, which can be used to show tiny details.


Over the Shoulder


This is a technique often used in dialogue like interviews. It involves focusing on a subject but from behind another person, giving the impression of the camera being over the person's shoulder, hence the name.


Medium Shot


A medium shot is one of the most common types of shots. It shows most of the subject and a little bit of their surrounding environment.


Establishing Shot


An establishing shot is a single shot of a location or setting to show the audience where the proceeding action takes place. This is further away from the subject than the wide shot--so far that the subject can't be seen.


Point-of-View Shot


A point-of-view shot, or POV shot, is from the point-of-view of the subject, typically as they hold a handheld camera. Though not common, some films, like "Cloverfield" or "The Blair Witch Project" use this shot to great effect.


Tracking Shot


A tracking shot is where the camera literally follows a subject as they move around their setting.

Troubleshoot A Chrysler Cd Radio

Getting your radio/CD player checked for repairs is no exception. Instructions


1. Isolate the trouble by determining if there is a problem with the speakers. If the radio works but not the CD player, or vice versa, then the speakers are fine.


2. Check speaker problems by first adjusting the balance control on the CD/radio player to be sure one speaker hasn't been switched off accidentally.


3. If the speakers are still not working, check the speaker wire connections to the wiring harness underneath the dashboard, typically below the steering column. Reattach any loose or disconnected wires, using the wire strippers if necessary to remove insulation to reconnect broken wires. Electrical tape is handy for insulating quick wire splices.


4. Make sure the wiring harness is plugged in securely to the radio/CD player.


5. Check the current to the speakers by disconnecting the wires at the speaker connections one at a time. Attach the electric meter to the wire ends. If you get a reading, the problem is most likely a blown factory speaker. No reading means no current is getting to the speaker, so you either have a bad speaker wire or bad connection in the wiring harness.


6. If you have a separate amp, check connections from the factory radio/CD player to the amplifier. The separate amp is typically installed under the driver's seat.


7. Pop the hood and check the radio power cable to the battery in your Chrysler. Look for a cylinder in the line that contains the fuse. Check the glass fuse inside the link and replace if blown.


8. For CD playback problems, try cleaning the laser lens with a CD cleaning product such as that manufactured by Memorex. The cleaner is shaped like a CD and slips into the CD slot. Press play and clean for 2-3 minutes.

Description Of An Alkaline Battery

Rechargeable alkaline batteries can be cheaper than other batteries in the long run.


Alkaline batteries were introduced in 1970, providing an improved dry cell with better efficiency compared with the carbon zinc or zinc chloride batteries, which have been around a lot longer. Alkaline batteries have alkaline electrolyte chemistry, whereas zinc carbon batteries have acidic electrolyte chemistry. Alkaline batteries can be stored for two years at room temperature, losing only 10 percent capacity. After four years of storage, they lose only 20 percent storage capacity.








Construction


The alkaline battery contains an electrochemical system consisting of an anode made from a gelled mixture of amalgamated zinc powder and potassium hydroxide electrolyte. The cathode is made from a mixture of high purity electrolytic manganese dioxide and carbon. Carbon is added for increased conductivity. An inner steel container contains a brass sheet metal anode collector, which serves as the cathode. The three-way electrochemical reaction takes place between the conductive carbon matrix cathode, the large surface areas of amalgamated zinc and the conductive electrolyte solution.


Durability


Alkaline batteries offer greater storage capacity, a longer storage life and better performnace in both low and high temperatures, including sub-zero temperatures. The alkaline electrolyte design prevents voltage dropping during storage and allows longer storage capacity than zinc chloride batteries. There is also far less leakage risk with alkaline batteries, and because the contents are not acidic, leakage does not damage surrounding materials.


Types and Sizes


Alkaline batteries commonly come in AAA, AA, C, D and 9-volt sizes, and due to the alkaline battery not having a carbon rod cathode, they can be made a lot smaller. Smaller units are available in non-standard sizes for specialized uses. Alkaline batteries are generally disposable but rechargeable alkaline batteries are available. The rechargeable type lose storage capacity each time they are recharged, so they are not a popular choice for rechargeable batteries.








Uses


Regular alkaline batteries are good for general use, and they are reasonably cheap to buy, but they do not perform well in high-drain devices such as digital cameras. Alkaline batteries are recommended for use in remote controls, toys, flashlights and clocks. There are high-drain alkaline batteries that are especially designed for digital cameras, but they are more expensive.


Disposal


Alkaline batteries are not recyclable, and because they are made from non-toxic materials, they can be safely disposed of without damaging the environment.

Most of the world's mobile phones work using Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) technology. Mobile phones that use this technology use a subscriber identity module (SIM) card to identify themselves to a mobile network. For example, when you open an AT&T mobile account the sales person will give you a SIM card to insert in your phone. This let's AT&T know that particular phone is linked to your mobile account. Instructions


1. Insert the SIM card into your Windows Mobile phone. Remove the back cover and pry the phone battery out. Position the SIM card with gold contacts face down and the end with the missing notch facing the SIM card slot. Slide the SIM card into its slot until you feel it lock in. Replace the battery and battery cover on your Windows Mobile phone.


2. Turn on your Windows Mobile phone and allow it to finish booting up. Click "Contacts" to access your contact files.








3. Highlight the contact file you want to transfer to your SIM Card. Press the menu key to open the pop-up menu. Click "Save to SIM." The contact file is now on your SIM Card.

Charge A Stiletto Sl10

The Stiletto SL10 portable satellite radio receiver comes packaged with two rechargeable batteries, both of which require the same method for charging. The standard battery powers the radio for longer periods of time but is larger, heavier and takes longer to recharge. The slim battery recharges faster and is less clunky but doesn't power the Stiletto SL10 for as long as the standard battery.


Instructions


1. Slide the bottom of the standard or slim battery onto the bottom of the Stiletto SL10. The bottom of the battery is the straight side of the battery. The top of the battery has an indent.








2. Press down on the top of the battery until you hear it click in place.


3. Plug the small, circular end of the AC adapter into the charging jack located on the bottom of the Stiletto SL10.


4. Plug the other end of the AC adapter into an electrical socket.








5. Unplug the AC adapter from the Stiletto SL10 when the battery indicator in the lower left corner of the screen is fully dark. The slim battery takes approximately two hours to charge, and the standard battery takes approximately four hours.

The Memory Card Is Stuck In A Digital Frame

Some digital frames use memory cards to upload pictures.


Digital photo frames are a great way to display your favorite pictures from special events or family vacations. Most digital photo frames have an internal memory and processor that will automatically display the pictures in a continuous slide show. To load the pictures onto the digital photo frame's internal memory, some will connect directly to your computer where you can copy the pictures to the photo frame. Other models are loaded by installing a memory card containing the pictures you want to display on the frame. Should the card become stuck, it may take a little bit of work to get it out.


Instructions


1. Turn the digital photo frame off and unplug the power cord from it.


2. Locate the memory card and inspect it and the slot it is in, to see if you can visually identify any debris that may be causing the card to be stuck. If so, carefully remove the debris using a pair of tweezers. You do not want the debris to fall further into the frame.


3. Use your fingers to try and remove the card, be firm and apply an increasing amount of force to try and remove the card. Try to wiggle or shift it from side to side and see if that will allow it to break free.


4. Inspect the card to see if there is any damage to the contacts or if any of the label has started to peel off before you insert it into your camera or back into the digital frame.

Instructions


1. Unplug the big screen TV. Place the cord end up and tuck it out of the way so no one trips over it. With the assistance of your strong helpers, pick up the TV and move it away from the wall.


2. Cover the top and sides of the big screen TV with thick blankets; be especially careful when you're padding the screen. Have your helpers hold the blankets firmly in place, while you secure them with strapping or duct tape.


3. Push the appliance dolly up to one side of the TV. Pull the strap out and hold it. Have your helpers lift that side up while you slide the shelf underneath. Wrap the strap around the big screen TV, and secure it to the dolly. The strap should be snug, but not so tight that it can damage the TV cabinet or the screen.








4. Pull back on the handles to raise the appliance dolly up. Have your strong helpers hold the big screen TV steady and help guide it as you move it across the floor. To negotiate stairs, take them one at a time. Have your strong helpers go up/down ahead of you. As you push the dolly down a stair, have your helpers hold the big screen TV up so it doesn't fall. As you pull up a stair, have your helpers push the TV so it's easier for you.


5. Move the big screen TV outside to the back of a pick-up truck. Lower the tailgate and set up the ramps. Push the appliance dolly up the ramp, while your helpers assist you in guiding it. Position the TV so it's close to the cab of the pick-up.


6. Tie the appliance dolly and the big screen TV down with rope and bungee straps so it can't slide around in the bed of the pick-up. Remove the ramps and raise the tailgate, and you're off.

Sony makes a wide variety of receivers for almost any stereo or home theater audio application. Whether you watch surround sound movies or just listen to two-channel stereo music, there is likely a Sony receiver available in your price range. Sony receivers are generally built to last and have few problems. However, it is important to follow a few guidelines to maximize the sound potential of your receiver and prevent future problems.








Hooking Up Audio


When connecting audio to your Sony receiver, ensure you're using the latest technology in audio cables. Digital coaxial or SPDIF cables provide better quality than the older, red/white analog cables. Digital cables are also less prone to electronic interference. Ensure your cables are hooked firmly into the proper inputs. To avoid confusion, hook CD, DVD players and VCRs to their respective inputs on the back of the receiver. If there is more than one audio input, use the digital one if you have the proper cable. When connecting CD players to your receiver, experiment with analog (red/white) audio cables and digital (coaxial or SPDIF) cables. Depending on the quality of your CD player's digital-to-analog converter (DAC), the digital method may not necessarily sound better.


Connecting Vdeo


Video connections can be tricky with receivers. Most Sony receivers don't process video themselves, but act as a video switch that juggles video signals when you change inputs. For this reason, make sure your video cables are of the highest quality (HDMI is preffered) to avoid upconversion problems. Some Sony home theater receivers will upconvert the component video to the HDMI output, but this is not optimal for the best picture quality. If you need to use component video cables, select the component video output from the receiver to the TV instead of the HDMI output.


Speakers


Your Sony receiver will have multiple outputs for speakers. Whether you're connecting two, five or seven speakers, connect them according to their labeled plug on the back of the receiver. Consider using banana plugs instead of just stripping the speaker wire. These plugs are easy to install into speaker wire and plug directly into the speaker input, thereby ensuring a firm connection and minimizing any signal loss.








Speaker placement is also important. If you're installing two speakers, place them so they form a triangle between the listener and the speakers. If placing in a home theater setup, place the center speaker underneath the TV and the rear speakers behind the listener. Place the subwoofer anywhere in the room. If you place it in the corner, the wall angles will naturally enhance the bass.

Use A Twin Lens Camera

There was a time when the three main professional cameras were the rangefinder, the single lens reflex and the twin lens reflex. All of them were good designs, but all were expensive and complex. The digital revolution didn’t make these older cameras any less valid, but it did make them a lot cheaper. What would have cost $1,000 or $2,000 a few years ago can be obtained for a couple hundred dollars now. Follow the steps below to use a Mamiya C330 twin lens camera.


Instructions


1. Load the film. There is a pressure plate inside the drop-down back of the camera that can be turned with a knob on the outside to accept 120 or 220 film. Make sure it is set to the correct film type before loading. Close the back compartment, and lock it.


2. Wind the film until it locks on the first frame to expose. It’s ready to shoot.








3. Flip up the waist-level viewfinder. This is on top of the camera and gives access to the viewing lens. There is a magnifier for better focusing, or just look through the whole screen.


4. Focus the camera with the knobs on the bottom front. The screen either will have a standard ground glass or a split-screen. For the ground glass, just focus back and forth until the image is sharp. For the other, focus until the two halves of the split screen align. The image will be reversed left to right. If you move left, the image will go right.


5. Set the shutter speed and aperture. The faster the shutter speed, the more motion can be stopped, but less light will go to the film. The smaller the aperture, the sharper the focus, but again, less light will go in.


6. Prepare to shoot outdoors on a sunny day. Set the shutter speed to the highest, the aperture to the lowest, and position the sun behind the photographer. To shoot outdoors on a hazy day, set the shutter speed and the aperture in the middle. While shoot indoors, either use a flash—electronic strobes will sync with the TLR—or high-speed film such as 400 or 800 ISO.


7. Try different exposures under different circumstances, and note what you did.


8. Beware of parallax. Parallax is the difference between the lens you look through and the lens that takes the picture. At a distance, parallax is negligible. For portraits and other up-close subjects, it matters. There’s a parallax scale on the left side of the camera. If a tripod is used, simply set the camera to take the photo, then tilt down according to the scale to frame it correctly.


9. Finish the film roll. Wind it up, and take it out. Seal it with the attached tape, and process. Color and black-and-white film can be processed at photo shops or through the mail. Or, you can develop it at home.








10. Know that the negatives or slides are big—2.25-by-2.25 inches—so they can be enlarged a lot more than 35mm or standard digital exposures. Scan the negatives into a computer to manipulate them in a photo program or get an enlarger, trays and chemicals. Expose and develop the prints. There are some photo stores that will both develop the film and scan it. They will provide different resolutions on a CD or DVD from which they or you can print.

How Is Camera Film Manufactured

Base


The celluloid base of the film is created first by mixing acetate with either linseed fibers or wood pulp. This mixture precipitates pellets of celluloid acetate, which are then washed, dried and dissolved in an acetone solvent. This forms the "dope," which is then spun out on a chromium plated wheel to the correct thickness. As this happens, the solvents in the dope mixture evaporate, leaving behind a thin strip of plastic. This becomes the film base.


Emulsion


The emulsion is the part of the film which captures the light and records it onto the film strip. Color and black and white film have different varieties of emulsion. For black and white film, an emulsion of silver nitrate crystals and gelatin is prepared by dissolving pure silver in nitric acid. This mixture is stirred and cooled. As it cools, the water separates out from the emulsion, leaving behind crystals of silver nitrate. These crystals are then added to a gelatin mixture that has been treated with potassium bromide and potassium iodide. This creates a suspension of the silver nitrate crystals.


For color film, the process is similar, only three varieties of silver nitrate are used, each sensitive to one-third of the color spectrum - red, green, and blue. They contain dyes known as "linked" dyes, which when washed with developer produce a negative image, leaving behind cyan, yellow, and magenta.


Sensitizing


For black and white film, the coating process begins by sending the film base strip to the coating alley, where it is sprayed with the silver halide and gelatin emulsion. For color film, the emulsion coating process may be done as few as three times to apply red, green, and blue sensitive layers of emulsion. The film passes through the coating alley three times, being sprayed first with the red emulsion, then with the green, then with the blue. This arrangement of emulsions corresponds to the intensity of light waves of those particular colors. Modern color film may have as many as twenty layers of emulsion, each sprayed on separately. As the emulsions are light sensitive, this process must be completed in the dark and the film kept in darkness until it is securely packaged.


Finishing


The finishing process begins with the act of "slitting," which is the process of mechanically cutting the film to the correct width. The film then passes on to a perforating machine, which creates the perforations that will align with the sprockets of the camera. Both of these processes are performed in total darkness, as any light will expose the film. Once the film is cut into the correct size and perforated it is wound onto a small plastic spool. This spool is then inserted into a light-proof metal or plastic canister, and the canister is sealed. The film is now ready to be boxed and shipped.

Repairs and Replacement


Old or damaged batteries typically need replacement. When replacing the battery, purchase a Polaroid recommended battery as other batteries may not last as long, or may even damage your camera. Sony Corporation offers a wide range of digital cameras, among them is the line of CyberShot cameras. The CyberShot includes multiple series of digital still cameras. CyberShot cameras come equipped with a rechargeable InfoLithium battery pack. Depending on the model of CyberShot you own, the cameras have a wide range of functions and features, however each CyberShot is designed with ease of use in mind. Learning to use your CyberShot will help achieve beautiful photographs.








Instructions


1. Turn the Cybershot on by pressing the "Power" button. The power light will illuminate when the camera is on and ready.


2. Lower the lens cover by sliding the lens cover down, if your CyberShot is equipped with a lens cover.


3. Hold the camera steady; point the camera at the object and if necessary zoom in by pressing the "T" button.


4. Press the shutter button halfway down. This will focus the image so that it's clear and sharp. Once the image is in focus, the camera will beep once.


5. Press the shutter down all the way to take the picture. The image will now be recorded to the CyberShot memory card and will display on the LCD screen. Repeat these steps for each picture.

Face Detection

Scene Modes

Dual Memory cards


Fuji digital cameras can use two types of memory cards: XD and SD. This gives the photographer flexibility in shooting and the ability to quickly add memory. When one card is full, the photographer can switch quickly to the other. Start with an SD card, which has much greater memory capacity than any XD card. SD cards can be purchased in sizes up to 32GB, while XD is only available up to 2GB. Buy a backup XD card and leave it in the camera so you can switch over to that if needed.

Check Cell Phone Records

Nowadays, there is no reason to be in the dark about your cell phone records. You have numerous options for checking your cell phone usage information and verifying that you did in fact make the calls that you are being charged for. Cell phone companies now list the phone numbers that you called and the time that you spent on each phone call so that there is little to no need for disputes.


Instructions


1. Gather your old bills to check cell phone records. Your cell phone bills contain just about every piece of important information that you need to know about your account, including the numbers you called, the number of minutes you spent on each call, and even information about who you sent text messages to in some cases.


2. Register for online account management on your cell phone company's website. When you log in, you will be presented with the option to view your bills---they will be listed by month. You can view your cell phone calling records online either in HTML list form or in a PDF file that looks exactly like the physical bill that you receive each month. You can now also access your cell phone account and records by visiting the Internet browser on your cell phone and clicking on "Account Information."


3. Call your cell phone provider directly to check your phone records. The representative can look up your calls, charges, and other details by date or phone number. The representative can also print up a copy of your cell phone history and send it to you for viewing (though there may be a fee).


4. Type in your special short codes (which are given to you by your provider) on your handset to check your cell phone records, including your account balance, minutes, and data usage. Most short codes are three digit codes preceded and ended by either the "#" or "*" key. See the "Resources" section below for a complete list of short codes by cell phone company.

Telephoto lenses, available in every price range, use optics to bring your photographic subject closer. Any lens with a focal length greater than 50mm is technically a telephoto lens.


Prime vs. Zoom

A telephoto for a digital single-lens reflex may be a prime or zoom lens. A prime telephoto lens has a fixed focal length (as in 100mm), while a zoom telephoto has a variable focal length (as in 70-200mm). According to Darren Rowse, of the Digital Photography School, "Zoom lenses are the most popular DSLR lenses at present and come in a range of configurations and levels of quality."


Weight

Telephoto lenses can exceed focal lengths of 600mm; however, a longer focal length results in a heavier lens. When using a super-telephoto (300mm plus), a tripod is often needed to prevent camera shake.


Lens Speed


A fast lens is more versatile in low-light settings.


The speed of a telephoto lens is determined by its largest f-stop or lens opening. By recording more light, a larger f-stop (as in f2.8) allows the photographer greater flexibility in low-light situations.


Price


Telephoto lenses can be expensive

Conversion Factor


APS-C vs. full-frame.


Digital single-lens reflexes are available in both APS-C and full-frame formats. An APS-C camera has a smaller sensor, resulting in lens focal length conversion factor. For example, the conversion factor for Canon APS-C cameras is 1.6x--meaning that a 200mm telephoto would have the equivalent focal length of 320mm.

CCTV security camera


A CCTV (closed-circuit television) camera system is a system of cameras that send signals to a specified monitor, used for surveillance in shopping malls, banks, government offices and even homes to ensure safety and keep control of happenings on the premises. A variety of system types are available, from analog and digital to wired and wireless. Each contains the essential components of camera, lens, monitor and cables, if a wired system. Installation takes five to ten minutes requiring only a few steps.


Instructions


1. Mark sports for the screws. Place the mounting brackets for each camera against the wall in the desired locations. Draw a small mark with a pencil indicating where the screws will go.


2. Drill pilot holes (small holes drilled into a surface to act as a guide for the screws) into the marks for each screw. Secure the mounting brackets by screwing them into place. Drill a hole for the camera feed wire near the mounting brackets.








3. Attach each camera to its mounting bracket. Make sure it is secure. Run the feed wire through the drilled hole to the monitor. Tighten and secure the wire to the floor, ceiling, or wall using wall clips or staples. Make sure very little of the wire is left exposed.


4. Plug the wire into the monitor and turn on your system. Adjust cameras as needed.


5. Install a wireless system by simply placing the cameras where you desire and turning them on. Installation of the accompanied software onto the monitor is needed to configure the monitor to pick up the camera's signal.

What Does Slr Stand For In Digital Cameras

Cameras are divided into many types. Using a single lens reflex (SLR) camera is one of the best ways to ensure that what you see in the viewfinder is what is either captured digitally or on film.


Definition


A single lens reflex camera uses one lens for the image in the viewfinder and on the film or digital sensor.


Mechanism


Light passes through that lens to a mirror that reflects the light upward to a pentaprism or pentamirror, which subsequently reflects the light through the viewfinder. When the shutter release is pressed, the initial mirror flips up to allow the light to pass through a shutter assembly.


Advantages


The image the photographer sees is captured in exactly the same way on the film or digital sensor. The images are not susceptible to parallax or other problems with having a separate lens for the viewfinder.


Disadvantages


The main disadvantage of an SLR system is complexity. They are more prone to failure over time than simpler cameras. They are also more expensive to manufacture than simpler photographic mechanisms.

What Does Sim Stand For On A Cell Phone

Most mobile phones used in Europe, as well as many in the United States, run on the system called Groupe Speciale Mobile, or Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM). These phones require a SIM card in order to operate. This is in contrast to the Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) system, which is common to mobile phones in the United States and do not use SIM cards.


Definition of SIM Cards


SIM is an acronym that stands for Subscriber Identity Module. SIM cards contain the subscriber information of the individual mobile phone user and identify the user to the network. SIM cards may also contain applications and personal data, such as stored telephone numbers. They are usually about the size of a thumbnail and are inserted into the mobile phone.


SIM Cards on Unlocked Mobile Phones


An unlocked phone is not operational without a SIM card. However, any GSM-compatible SIM card may be used with an unlocked phone. Personal data such as telephone numbers may be stored on the SIM card or on the phone itself. The operational data for the phone is stored on the SIM card.


SIM Cards on Locked Mobile Phones


A locked mobile phone will often be supplied to the customer with the SIM card already installed and programmed. While the SIM card can be physically removed from a locked mobile phone, the phone will not operate without it. It is not possible to substitute another SIM card into a locked phone unless it is unlocked by the carrier or by unlocking software.


SIM Cards Versus Re-Usable Identification Module (R-UIM) Cards


CDMA mobile phones do not use SIM cards. However, Re-Usable Identification Module (R-UIM) cards have been used in China since 2002. This technology works on a similar principle as SIM cards. As of 2009, development is underway to make R-UIM cards available in the United States, to make interchangeability for CDMA mobile phones possible.


Considerations for Travel


People who travel to many different destinations may have several SIM cards, which allow them to use a single unlocked mobile phone with their stored phone numbers and to obtain a local telephone number wherever they are.


Multiple-band GSM-network mobile phones can often be used overseas, whether locked or unlocked, although international roaming charges for locked mobile phones can be prohibitively high. Network bands for GSM phones are 850 and 1900, widely used in North and South America, and 900 and 1800, widely used in Europe. Tri-band mobile phones usually carry the 850, 1800 and 1900 bands, while quad-band mobile phones carry all four bands.

Program A Vcr

Programming a VCR is a notoriously complicated task. Each brand of VCR is different, and a few brands are easier to program than others. Here are general guidelines for setting any VCR.








Instructions


1. Read the instructions thoroughly. If you have lost the manual, contact the VCR manufacturer to order a new one. You may be charged a small fee.








2. Make sure your TV and VCR are connected properly to each other and to your cable system or antenna.


3. Keep in mind that if you have a cable box, you may need to set the VCR to channel 3 and then select the desired channel on the cable box. If you don't have a cable box but instead hook up your cable directly to the VCR, you may need to set the TV to channel 3 and the VCR to the channel you want to record.


4. You'll need to provide antenna reception for the VCR if you don't have cable. Usually the VCR and TV can share an antenna, but you may need a separate antenna for the VCR.


5. Check that the date and time (including the AM/PM setting) are set correctly on the VCR before you program it.


6. Put a blank tape into the VCR. If you are reusing an old tape, wind it back to the beginning and check that the erasure-prevention tab is still present. If it's been broken off, you can't record.


7. Schedule recording to start and end a few minutes before and after the show, just in case your VCR's clock is a few minutes off. If it's a sports event that might run into overtime, program even more time at the end.
