Courses

SkyCaddie offers users course information for 23,000 golf courses worldwide. This information can be downloaded to their SkyCaddie through the company's CaddieSync technology, which is a free download. The course information, however, costs extra and requires a membership. SkyCaddie employs course mappers to walk courses and provide detailed information on yardages and greens.

Membership

Once SkyCaddie users have set up an account, they can choose from five different membership options. The Birdie plan allows users access to information for courses in their home state. The Eagle plan allows users access to information on courses in their home country. The Double-Eagle plan gives users access to SkyCaddie's worldwide course library. "Play 36" is the Double Eagle plan, but for three years, which SkyCaddie claims saves the player $50 over three years. Finally, players can simply register and then use their SkyCaddie to map their home courses themselves.

Other Products

SkyCaddie offers accessory bundles for its SG2.5 and SG5 models. These bundles feature temporary cart mounts, car chargers, carry cases and screen guards. Users can also purchase a belt clip for their SG SkyCaddie separately.

When it comes to an RCA brand television set, connecting a DVD player is no different than with any other TV. Older, tube-based models should have the simplest connection ports needed. The newer high-definition models cane give you multiple connection options for better quality. If you have a simple DVD player, your connection should be separate from any cable or satellite receiver you have with the TV. A DVD recorder should be connected so the cable signal goes through the recorder and then to the TV.

Instructions

1. Check all the input ports located in back of the RCA TV. It needs to have at least composite ports, which are the three round sockets colored yellow, white and red. It could also have an HDMI port (it looks like a small, stretched trapezoid) or component ports (similar to composite, but colored blue, green and red).

2. Disconnect the cable/satellite receiver from the TV only if it is using the TV input port you want to use for the DVD. If this box is connected through an RF coaxial cable (the thick black cable that is twisted into place), you don't need to disconnect it.

3. Connect the DVD player to the TV, using the best cable connection available. An HDMI cable will transmit the bast video/audio combination. If you can't use this, the composite cables (yellow, white, red) will also carry both video and audio. Component cables (blue, green, red) may give you the best video quality but won't transmit audio.

4. Connect a cable to the DVD and TV for audio if you connected the video with component cables. The simplest connection will be through composite audio cables. This means you only need a cable that has red and white plugs.

5. Attach your cable or satellite receiver to the DVD's input, if it has one. You should only need to do this if you are using a DVD recorder instead of just a player. If the DVD recorder has an RF coaxial port, use that. Otherwise, link the cable/satellite's output to the DVD's input through composite cables.

6. Reconnect your cable/satellite receiver to the TV if you had to disconnect it (Step 2) and did not connect it to the DVD's input (Step 5). Using the RF coaxial connection is your best option.

Engagement portraits are usually more informal than wedding portraits. The couple is dressed more casually, and there is more flexibility in the chosen settings. Nevertheless, the principles of good photography still apply. Composition, backgrounds, flattering images and telling the story of the couples' affection for each other have to be carefully thought out. It is important to get to know the couple, so they are portrayed in a meaningful way.

Sensor Size

The stated focal length of lenses is based on a full-frame camera, the sensor of which is equivalent to a 35mm film camera, or 24 by 36mm. Most digital single lens reflex cameras have a smaller sensor, with a multiplication factor of 1.5, 1.6 or 2.0. A 50mm lens on a camera with a 1.6 factor is equivalent to an 80mm lens. Head and Shoulder Photos

Informal action photos of the couple moving or full-length photos in front of interesting backgrounds often provide insight into the couples' relationship. A wide-angle lens between 20 to 30mm works best for these. This allows you to get fairly close to the couple while getting the entire scene.

Other Considerations

While the same lenses can be used indoors or outside, lighting will help determine the direction of the photos and whether artificial light is necessary. Sometimes, portraits can be too sharp, showing imperfections that are better left unseen. In that case, a softer focus may be preferable. It is more convenient to use zoom lenses, rather than carrying a larger number of prime lenses, since two lenses can probably cover all options. A 17-55mm and 70-200mm will suffice for almost all portrait situations.

If yes to all these questions, the phone in question is the speedier, more functional iPhone 3GS and not the second generation 3G.

Determine the optimum shutter speed for your camera by leaning use an exposure meter.

An exposure meter is actually a device that measures the amount of light. It is often used in photography, cinematography and the movie industry to establish the proper exposure needed for a perfect photograph. Light meters can be digital and analogue depending on their model. Most modern exposure meters are simple digital devices that offer accurate readings. If you know read and use an exposure meter, you will be able to use the optimum shutter speed and therefore get perfect results in both photography and cinematography.

Instructions

1. Check the film speed on your camera and set that exact figure on the exposure meter itself. Most digital light meters have a button for setting the film speed. Note that the exposure meter has to be in sync with your particular camera in order for the results to be custom. The film speed or ISO, is the speed needed for the film to react to light.

2. Point the exposure meter generally in the direction of the landscape or subject you want to shoot. Get a light reading by pointing the light meter roughly in the same direction your camera will be facing.

3. Adjust the contrast by checking the white and the black tones on the subject and the scenery. Simply choose a clearly contrasted part of the scenery and use it for adjustment. This is the easiest approach since strong black and white tones are simple to notice and set. Read the light meter when pointed to the dark/black and the light/white parts of the subject or the landscape. Remember that a perfect photograph or a shot needs to have strong dark and bright tones.

4. Turn the dial on the exposure meter, usually on the left side, to match the exposure number on the camera. Read the number indicated for the shutter speed and read the f-stop position as well.

5. Set your camera to match the shutter speed and the f-stop recommended and calculated by the exposure meter.

Hinges are hardware devices used to hang a door on a door frame. The hinge allows the door to swing open and close, and may serve a number of additional functions depending on the type of hinge that is used.

Butt Hinges

Butt hinges are the most commonly used type of door hinge. They are made of two metal plates that are connected by a steel pin. One plate is screwed to the door while the other is fastened to the frame. Butt hinges can be mortised into the door and frame or installed on the surface. The average unit is 4.5 inches high, and most doors require three hinges. Heavy or over-sized doors may require more than three hinges.

Specialty Butt Hinges

Some butt hinges are specially designed to accommodate unique door installations. Swing clear hinges have plates bent at 90 degree angles so that the door will rest outside of the travel path when fully open. Raised barrel hinges are designed for wide door frames to allow the door to open a full 90 degrees. The barrel, or pin, is slightly offset so that it will not be bound by the frame. Invisible Hinges

Invisible, or SOSS, hinges are fully mortised inside a door and frame so that they are not visible when the door is closed. These hinges are very expensive and are generally used on high-end applications. The door and frame must be carefully prepped to receive these hinges, and installation can be difficult and time consuming for novice installers.

Spring Hinges

Spring hinges contain tightly coiled springs tucked inside the barrel where the two plates meet. This spring causes the door to automatically shut after it has been opened. These units are commonly used on fire-rated or exterior doors in place of a closer. The closing speed associated with a particular spring hinge cannot be regulated, and they must be chosen carefully based on the size and weight of the door.

Electric Hinges

Electrified hinges are used to transport electricity to locks and other hardware devices. These hinges are equipped with a series of thin wires that provide power to electric locks, keypads and card readers. This eliminates the need for a separate power supply while helping to conceal wires from view.

Continuous Hinges

Continuous, or piano hinges are made of interconnected metal plates that extend the entire length of the door. They are used on heavy doors that can't be supported by traditional hinges. These hinges are also used on doors subject to heavy abuse, such as schools or detention facilities. Continuous hinges help to evenly distribute the weight of the door along its entire height, helping to reduce maintenance needs while extending the life of the door.

Use Thermal Cameras For Ghost Hunting

Ghost hunting requires the proper tools.

A thermal camera is a must have tool in the arsenal of any ghost hunter. These cameras record the infrared portion of the spectrum. The thermographic camera will show variation in infrared radiation, known as an object's heat signature. Finding a heat signature in an unexpected location can be compelling proof of ghosts. Thermal cameras function in both light and darkness as they are not dependent upon the visible portion of the light spectrum, so they work well in any ghost hunting environment.

Instructions

1. Familiarize yourself with the features of your thermographic camera ahead of time. Figuring out use it during your hunt is too late. Be sure to set its sensitivity range as high as possible so you will be sure not to miss any potential evidence.

2. Research your hunting site.

For the best odds of a ghost sighting, select a location where ghosts have already been encountered. Do historical research of your site and ask locals about the ghost reports.

3. The "psychic hours" are most fruitful.

Focus your ghost hunting between the hours of 9 p.m, and 6 a.m., which are known as the "psychic hours."

4. Prevent false positives.

Clear the area of live humans to prevent false positive heat signatures.

5. Begin searching for unexpected heat variations. These variations could be increases or decreases in temperature. Cold spots can also be indicators of spirit activity.

6. Expand your search area well above the ground. Ghosts are not bound by the same physical constraints that we are. If you are indoors, pan across the ceiling and look outside windows even if you are not on the ground floor.

7. Search for signatures such as footprints or locations where walls or other objects have been touched. Follow these heat trails and attempt to track them to their source.

8. Film continuously. Do not wait until you suspect an anomaly before you search with the thermal camera. Ghost sightings could appear at any time and if you wait until paranormal event occurs it may be too late to get your camera ready.

9. If you catch a glimpse of an anomaly but then lose sight of it, slowly pan your camera 360 degrees. While panning look on the ground for prints and don't forget to look upwards above the ground.

Connect To Bluetooth

Bluetooth technology is a way for two devices (usually a headset and a compatible cell phone) to connect to each other without the use of wires or cables. This can be great for people that need to make important calls during situations, like driving, where holding a cell phone can be rude and dangerous. Connecting two Bluetooth-compatible devices to one another is a simple process that takes, at most, two minutes.

Instructions

1. Turn on both your Bluetooth-compatible cell phone and your Bluetooth headset.

2. Put your Bluetooth headset in "Discover Mode." This can be done by pressing in and holding the button on the side of the headset until the tiny indicator light turns a solid color. The headset will emit a signal that can be picked up by your Bluetooth-compatible cell phone.

You can purchase optional Zagat Points of Interest (POIs) from Navigon for this device. Zagat Survey, originally the New York restaurant-goers bible, has branched out into providing Points of Interest for Global Positioning Systems (GPS.) The pack for the Navigon 2100 features more than 30,000 POIs in hundreds of cities and includes five categories: attractions, golf courses, hotels, nightlife and restaurants.

Instructions

1. Get your Product ID from the Navigon 2100. Go to the main menu, choose Options. Then choose Service Activation. Write down the Product ID. The Product ID will have three groups of numerals and digits separated by dashes.

2. Scratch off the gray back of the activation card.

3. Go to the Navigon Web site activation area (see below) to activate your Zagat POIs. Enter the activation code from the scratch-off card and your Product ID. The Web site will generate a third number, which is your unlock code. The unlock code will be displayed on the Web site and e-mailed to you.

4. Enter the unlock code on the Navigon 2100. In the main menu, choose Options, then, Service Activation and then Next. Enter the code and press "OK." Your POIs will be added and be visible in the Navigon.

The Palm Treo 700p smartphone has a touchscreen for opening applications, inputting data and making selections. What Flash To Use With The Canon Canonet 28

The Canon Canonet 28 is a 35mm rangefinder-type camera released in 1971, and remained in production until 1976. The camera was compact and provided a lot of manual control, including stepless shutter speed adjustments. The camera was very good at taking outdoor and landscape shots, but its flash photography mechanism was not as efficient, and the camera did not have a pop-up flash.

Canolite D

The Canonet 28 came with a dedicated flash unit, the Canolite D, which had an extra pin in the hot shoe to provide metering. The Canolite D syncs automatically with the shutter of the camera, providing automatic flash exposure compensation to get very accurate shots. Looking through the viewfinder with the Canolite D connected, the photographer would see an exposure indicator. If the mark is in the red zone at the top, the subject is too far away, and if it is in the red zone at the bottom, the subject is too close, so you have to change your position to take the picture.

Other Flash Units

By connecting the optional hot shoe adapter to the camera, the Canonet 28 could work with other flash units. You placed the flash inside the adapter and ran a sync cord from the flash into the adapter. When used with other flash units than the Canolite D, the Canonet 28 defaulted to a shutter speed of 1/30th of a second. You then had to manually set the aperture, based on the formula of shooting distance/guide number. If the subject you were shooting was out of the proper range for the chosen exposure, you couldn't fire the flash.

Canon Flashes

Since you can use the Canonet 28 with any manual flash unit with the hot shoe adapter, photographers have a wide choice. The Canon 244T is one simple non-TTL flash unit that will work with the Canonet 28. As long as the flash unit lets you set the flash guide number, any flash will work with the Canonet 28, but it will not be the simple flash photography of modern SLRs.

How Do Stereo Receivers Work

Introduction

A stereo receiver is actually three individual devices manufactured in one, clean box. Therefore, the stereo receiver handles a lot of the responsibilities of the stereo system, including switching between components, receiving the audio signal, amplifying the audio to a level that can power the speakers and handling basic controls like volume, balance and programming.

Inputs

The first responsibility of the home stereo receiver is to receive the audio signal from an input source such as a CD player, MP3 player or television. There are many inputs in the back so that you connect all of your sources. You can then use the receiver to select which source that you want to use and switch between sources. When you begin playing your audio source, it sends an audio signal to the stereo receiver's preamplifier section. The preamplifier decodes the signal, and based upon what format that it's sent in, breaks the signal into individual channels to be routed to each speaker. The preamplifier also handles audio controls like volume and balance. The preamplifier powers the signal slightly and then when it has finished processing the signal it sends it to the amplifier.

Amplification

The stereo receiver's amplifier has a more simple, one-dimensional role. It is responsible for taking a line level signal and adding power to it. Speakers need significantly more power than a line level input would provide, so the amplifier adds the power while maintaining the proper frequency and audio characteristics of the original signal. A more powerful version of signal that maintains the integrity of its audio characteristics is created and then sent to the speakers.

Radio

The third piece of the stereo receiver is a built-in radio tuner. When an antenna is attached to the receiver, the tuner allows you to receive radio broadcasts and switch between stations.

Use A Digital Meter For Current

Multimeter

For voltage and resistance measurements, the test leads of digital multimeters are connected to input jacks that are typically marked with a plus sign for the positive probe and a minus sign or the word "common" for the negative one. For current measurements, the test circuit must be interrupted so the meter can be connected in the current path. A special positive input jack is used to route the current into a low resistance shunt in the meter. The current then returns to the circuit through the meter's common terminal.

Instructions

1. Turn the meter on and set it for measuring AC or DC current. If there are multiple ranges, start with the highest setting to prevent exceeding the meter's range.

2. Insert the test leads into the correct meter jacks. The black lead connects to the common jack and the red lead connects to a jack that is specially made for current measurements and marked accordingly. There may be multiple positive current jacks for different ranges. Choose the one that you know is above the expected range for your measurement.

3. Remove power from the circuit you will be measuring.

4. Interrupt the current path in the circuit at a convenient place. Ideally this should be at a connection point that will be easy to restore.

5. Connect the red (+) lead from the meter to the current source side of the break in the circuit. Connect the black common lead to the point where the current should return to the circuit. The meter will now be in series with the current path that was interrupted. Make sure the clips on the test leads are secure so they don't fall off during the measurement.

6. Reapply power to the circuit.

7. If there are leading zeros on the digital display consider repeating the previous steps using a lower current range or a lower current connection point on the meter if one is available. This will increase the accuracy of the reading.

8. Turn off the circuit power and remove the meter leads from it. Restore the original circuit connections.

9. When all current measurements are complete, reconnect the meter leads to the standard jacks that are used for voltage and current measurements. This may prevent an incorrect connection of the meter in the future. Inadvertently connecting the meter to a voltage source when it is configured for current measurements could damage the meter or the external circuit.

Positive Lens Groups

The positive lens group consists of the lens elements contained at the front of the lens. The focal length of a lens is determined by the distance of the optical center from the focal plane of the film or sensor when the lens is focused on the subject at infinity. In using more than one lens the positive lens group reduces the physical length of the lens.

Negative Lens Groups

Also known as the telephoto group, these lenses are found at the rear of the lens. These lenses take the image collected in the front group and perform the magnification of the image that eventually appears on the film or digital sensor.

Multiple Lens Elements

Both the positive lens group and the negative lens group will have multiple lens elements that are designed to reduce aberrations or other distortion if the image was only collected through one lens. In some cases longer telephoto lenses have the option of using an internal filter known as a drop-in filter. On smaller lenses these filters are normally attached to the front of the lens. With longer lenses the front element is too large or too far away to allow the photographer to adjust the filter, in the way a photographer adjusts a polarizer filter.

Even when you are shooting outdoors, you may need to use fill flash to remove shadows or brighten certain parts of an image to compensate for sub-optimal lighting conditions. Fill flash should normally be one or two f/stops under the nominal exposure for your subject. Set your shutter speed at 1/250 or less to sync with the flash unit and use aperture to adjust exposure if you are using manual modes.

External Slave Unit

1. Use an off-camera flash unit for greatest flexibility. Nikon SB-600 and SB-800 units have built-in compatibility with the Nikon D200.

2. Turn on both the flash unit and the camera. Select matrix or center-weighted metering mode on the camera.

3. Go to the "Pencil" menu on the camera and select "Flash." Next, select the "Built-in Flash" option and then "Commander Mode."

4. Select the "CSM" menu on your flash unit. Press "-" or "+" to bring up the wireless communication icon and then press "Mode" to turn on wireless communications.

3. Pull the black card out of the film pack. The first card is a blank sheet. Pull it firmly but smoothly out of the camera, making sure you do not pull it at an angle from the camera.

4. Lift the viewfinder away from the camera and then push the slider that extends the lens from the back of the camera.

5. Push the lever on the right-side of the camera to cock the shutter.

6. Look through the viewfinder, and move the focus sliders to the left and right to focus your image. The composition will be in focus when the dual images line up. Press and release the shutter button on the camera.

7. Pull the white label from the camera firmly and smoothly out of the camera. This reveals a yellow label. Pull the yellow tab away from the camera, smoothly but firmly in a single motion.

8. Wait for the film to develop. The number of seconds required for development will depend upon the type of film, so check the box if you are unsure. Once the film has developed, pull the negative away from the positive.

The Nikon F5 is a single lens reflex camera designed for use by the intermediate-to-advanced photographer. The F5's features include autofocus (with five focusing points), a color-sensitive light monitor, self timer, auto exposure and an ISO range of 6 to 6,400. While many of the Nikon F5's settings are user-configurable, novice operators may opt to take advantage of the camera's default settings and automatic capabilities. Instructions

1. Remove the protective caps from the camera body and both ends of the camera lens. Align the lens's mounting index with the white dot next to the camera's lens mount. Insert the lens into the camera mount and twist it counterclockwise until it is securely in place.

2. Pull out the battery release knob (located on the side of the camera, near the bottom edge). Twist the lever counterclockwise and pull the battery holder out of the camera. Insert eight AA batteries into the holder; reinsert the holder into the camera and turn the battery release knob clockwise until it locks into place.

3. Examine the film rewind knob located on top of the camera, near the leftmost edge. Locate the camera back lock release. Slide the release back while pulling the film rewind knob upward; the back of the camera will now open.

4. Insert the film into the leftmost end of the film bay. Grip the tab protruding from the film canister and pull out a length of film long enough to reach the red index marking on the rightmost end of the film bay. Ensure that there is no excess of slack in the film strip and close the back of the camera. Press the shutter-release button (located on top of the camera's handgrip) to advance the film to the first frame.

5. Examine the focus mode selector, located next to the camera lens; set the focus mode to "S." Set the film advance mode selector (the dial beneath the film rewind knob) to "S."

6. Hold the camera with your right hand on the handgrip and your left supporting the weight of the camera lens. Instructions

1. Insert the USB flash drive into your PC. Click "Start," "My Computer" and then "Devices."

3. Drag the MP4 video you want to play on the digital photo frame from the computer's hard drive into the open window of the USB flash drive.

Use A Multimeter To Test Coaxial Cable

If your cable, Internet, or satellite signal falters, but all equipment seems to be functioning properly, the problem could reside in the coaxial cable carrying the signal. A simple way to test this is to replace the cable; however, if you do not have an extra cable to spare, you can test for a short or break in the line with a multimeter. Since coaxial cables are rated for a stable resistance across the length of the cable, the ohms setting on a multimeter is perfect for performing such tests.

Instructions

1. Set your multimeter to an ohms scale around 100 ohms. A higher scale works, but avoid moving into a scale close to 1k ohms or higher. Coaxial cable is typically rated to operate at 50 or 75 ohms so the scale should be at or greater than these ratings.

2. Disconnect both ends of the cable from their connections.

3. Test the length of the cable by placing a multimeter probe on each end of the cable, touching the center wire emerging from the coaxial connector.

4. Read the multimeter display. A reading around the 50 ohm or 75 ohm rating of the cable indicates that the cable is working properly across its length. A reading of infinite resistance indicates a break somewhere along the the inside of the cable. A reading of zero indicates a potential short between the inner cable and its shield.

5. Remove the cable connector to expose the cable shielding.

6. Place one multimeter probe on the cable shielding and the other on the inner cable.

7. Read the multimeter display. A reading of infinite resistance indicates no short between the shield and the inner cable. A reading of anything below infinite indicates the shield and inner wire may be touching somewhere along the cable. If this is the case, the reading will be closer to zero.

The Solarcon A-110PM is a part of the Solarcon series of CB radio antennas. The A-110PM is a 50-watt stainless steel antenna with a magnet mount and cable configuration.
